Connecting Women in New England’s International Trade Community: High Tea at the Chinese Tea House

Join Women in World Trade New England for a memorable afternoon of connection, conversation, and culture at our inaugural Rhode Island event! Network with fellow women working in international trade while enjoying a traditional High Tea at one of Newport’s most iconic and historic venues.
✨ High Tea With a Side of History
The Chinese Tea House at Marble House is more than a stunning setting — it’s a symbol of strength, beauty, and resilience. Originally a birthday gift from William Vanderbilt to his wife Alva Belmont, the marble mansion was completed in the late 1800s. In 1908, Alva added the cliffside tea house, inspired by Song Dynasty artistry and culture. A dedicated suffragist, Alva used the tea house not only for hosting but also as a secret meeting space for women’s rights advocacy.
